Kim and Chris grew up together in Carpinteria, CA and got married in 2024! We spent a number of years in Washington, DC teaching art in the public school system and now teach for Ventura Unified. Our shared love for creating and teaching art has led us to start a studio in our basement that we called Targoni Studios. Once we relocated to Ventura in 2026 and brought all that we have learned with us. We traded the snow for sand and our basement studio for a garage studio.
Kim has been a practicing artist since obtaining her art degree in 2011. She has emphasized portraiture and realism through her drawings and paintings. This knack for detail has translated into fun surface decoration and handbuilt elements in our collaborative pots. Kim teaches high school art in DC, and loves shares her passion for art with her students.
Chris has been practicing and teaching pottery for years. Additionally, he is passionate about using welding and woodworking to create furniture. Whether it is with wood, metal, or clay, Chris loves making modern forms for everyday use. Along with his art, Chris enjoys teaching art in a DC elementary school.
Targoni Studios is the product of our collaborative efforts. When you look through the gallery and the shop, you will see both our individual and collaborative works. We are also passionate about giving people opportunities to work with clay and have opened our studio so that others can experience the joy of working with clay!
